Planning for Waste Management Sites
The first requirement for carrying out any waste management or recycling activity is planning permission. This may require an application for change of use with or without buildings. The planning process can be complex and full of pitfalls. It is important to get everything right at the start to ensure that you get the permission you need without restrictive conditions. We have obtained permission for a wide range of sites, from the most complex hazardous waste management facilities, including energy recovery operations, to simple recycling facilities.
Building Regulations
If your new planning permission includes a new building we can take care of any Building Regulations requirements there may be.
Environmental Permitting for Waste Facilities
Recent changes within the Environmental Permitting Regulations mean that there are a lot more activities that require an Environmental Permit for Waste. Bespoke or Standard Rules waste permit applications require the correct information to be included. We have a wide range of experience with all types of waste permit applications, from hazardous waste to simple recycling facilities and can ensure that applications process as smoothly as possible.
Installation Permitting
Larger waste facilities and particularly those handling hazardous wastes or undertaking landfilling activities require a more complex "Installation" permit application to be made to the Environment Agency. Our extensive experience of obtaining Installation Permits for a wide range of hazardous waste facilities means that we can ensure that the complex process is seen through as smoothly as possible. We can deal with all aspects of any type of waste management facility Installation including those that come under the Landfill Regulations or Waste Incineration Directive.
Waste Exemptions
Making sure that you get the correct permissions from the Environment Agency can be complicated. Even though the new Waste Exemptions are much simpler to obtain, if you feel that you need any help with them, or aren't sure which one is for you, or even whether you should be applying for an exemption or an Environmental Permit, we can sort it out for you.
